Terms and conditions.

The rules for using UrWally, in plain words. Using the app means you agree to them, so please give them a read.

Last updated 5 November 2026The UrWally iPhone app and this website

01Who we are and what this covers

UrWally is an iPhone app that helps you keep a record of your money, and this website tells people about it. Both are made by Joel Raj (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By downloading, installing or using UrWally you accept them. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the app.

02Using UrWally

  • UrWally is for keeping a personal record of your income, spending, transfers and account balances.
  • You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian accept these terms for you.
  • There’s no UrWally account to create. The app is protected by your iPhone’s passcode and your Apple Account, so keep those safe: anyone who can unlock your iPhone can open UrWally.

03Your entries

  • What you record in UrWally belongs to you. We don’t claim any rights to it.
  • Your entries are kept on your iPhone. While Sync with iCloud is on, which it is unless you turn it off, they’re also stored in your private iCloud database through your Apple Account. Apple’s terms apply there, and we can’t see them.
  • You can export every entry as a CSV spreadsheet at any time, from Settings → Export entries.
  • Deleting UrWally removes the entries on that iPhone. Entries in iCloud stay until you delete them from your iCloud storage in the Settings app.
  • Keep your own copy. We can’t recover lost entries for you, because we never have them.
  • Our Privacy policy explains in detail what UrWally does with information.

04Smart add and voice

  • When you use Smart add, the words you type, or a recording of what you say, are sent to the UrWally server along with the names of your tags and accounts, so it can sort them. The server passes them to an AI provider (currently OpenAI), which turns speech into text and sorts it into entries, then sends the result back. Our server doesn’t keep a copy.
  • Answers to questions about your saved payments are worked out on your iPhone from your entries. If you ask out loud, the recording is first turned into text as described above.
  • Smart add’s results come from an automated system and can be wrong: an amount, a tag, an account or a date. UrWally always shows you what it found first, and checking it before you add it is up to you.
  • Smart add needs an internet connection and has usage limits. We may change, limit or stop it, for example to keep it working for everyone.

05Bank texts and receipts

  • If you set up the Shortcuts automation, iOS hands incoming text messages to UrWally on your iPhone. UrWally keeps the ones that look like payments and throws the rest away. Nothing from your messages is uploaded.
  • Receipts you share to UrWally from apps like GPay, PhonePe or Paytm are also read on your iPhone.
  • Reading texts and receipts is automatic, so a payment can be missed or misread. Captured payments wait for you to confirm them.
  • Setting this up is your choice, and you can switch it off at any time in the Shortcuts app.
  • UrWally isn’t connected to your bank. It can’t see your bank account or move money.

06Balances

Account balances in UrWally come from the starting balance you enter and the entries you add or confirm. Where UrWally shows the balance from your bank’s latest text, that is simply what the text said, and the two can differ. Your bank’s records are always the final word.

07Not financial advice

UrWally helps you keep records. It isn’t a bank or a payment service, and it doesn’t give financial, tax, investment or legal advice. Totals, trends and answers to your questions are for your own information. For decisions that matter, check with your bank or a qualified professional.

08Fair use

Please don’t:

  • copy, change, sell or share the app, or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows it;
  • use the UrWally server outside the app, get around its limits, or try to overload, probe or disrupt it;
  • use UrWally to break the law or anyone else’s rights.

We may block Smart add for anyone who does.

09Test versions

Test versions of UrWally, for example through TestFlight, may have bugs, lose data or change without notice. Export your entries regularly while testing. Apple’s TestFlight terms apply as well.

10Ownership

  • The app, its design, the UrWally name and logo, and this website belong to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app, and nothing more.
  • Other names in UrWally or on this site, such as Apple, iCloud, GPay, PhonePe and Paytm, belong to their owners.

11Apple

If you got UrWally from Apple’s App Store:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for UrWally or its content.
  • Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for UrWally.
  • If UrWally fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund the price you paid, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for UrWally.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about UrWally, including product liability, legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection and intellectual property.
  • You confirm that you aren’t in a country under a US government embargo and aren’t on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

12No warranty

UrWally is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we don’t promise that it will always work, be free of errors or suit any particular purpose. Nor do we promise that entries, balances, or anything read from texts or speech will be correct.

13Liability

  • As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, money or profits, that come from using UrWally or relying on what it shows.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can’t legally be limited, or your rights as a consumer under the law that applies to you.

14Changes and ending

  • We may update these terms as UrWally changes. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also mention it in the app or on this site. Using UrWally after an update means you accept the updated terms.
  • You can stop using UrWally at any time by deleting it. The parts about ownership, warranties, liability and the law keep applying after that.

15Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute about them or about UrWally.
